Hello, thanks for downloading my Kaleidoscope Color Scheme, Kaleido-NeXT. Formally know as Ultimate NeXT, I decided to change the name, do a little editing, make it a final version, and re-release it. Neat, eh?
Kaleido-NeXT also comes with a "Lite" version. This version does NOT replace the icons, and instead uses the original Kaleidoscope icons....which ever one you want to use is fine with me....
There are several other NeXT based schemes out there, so try them all. I feel this one is about as close to actual NeXT within the confines of Kaleidoscope....
If you really want more NeXT schemes, might I suggest:
NeXTMac
NuNeXT (From the Operating System Collection)
I'm sorry, but I don't remember the authors of these, but you can get these from:
http://www.kaleidoscope.net/
This scheme is TOTALLY free....no cost whatsoever. Aren't I a nice guy?!?!? : - ) I would appreciate some e-mail, but you don't have to if you don't want to.
Okay, here are some quirks/bugs I have noticed, but just haven't corrected:
Quirks:
Top of active windows (one with close box, grow box, and window shade widget) has an overhang of about one pixel. I've tried correcting this, but nothing seems to work, so I just left it...if you know how to fix this, let me know....
The close box is switched from the actual version of NeXT. This is beyond my control, and I won't be able to fix it....it's a MAC problem!
I was given a suggestion by...uh...I don't remember who...to use and WDEF, but I DON'T want to do that. I don't want to use WDEF's, because they are quite unstable. The only WDEF's I've seen that work are the ones in Church Windows 2.0, and of course Kaleidoscope (Be scheme).
That's about all the problems I've noticed so far. There are most likely more, but I haven't seen them.
Make sure you use this scheme with 256 colors or higher. 16 colors might work okay, but anything less will be awful. The B/W version is very bad, and I have no intention of fixing this (who uses B/W anyways?).
All updates for this scheme will be posted to Info-Mac, and any other place that carries my scheme. You can also get updates from my web site:
